BORN TO THE PLEASURE AND PAIN

Review lights in the dark in Public by Carlos Pardo.

What really brought fame to the prince of modernist poets, the exquisite Alejandro Sawa (1862-1909), his death. Common thing to die, but that Sawa is not recognized his originality was born in Seville, Verlaine went to Paris, wrote plays bohemian and was the most cursed of the damned, until he had failed as expected of a cursed artist : with a death in poverty. "He had to a king of tragedy. Died insane, blind and furious, "say his friend Ramon Maria del Valle-Inclan, who is immortalized as the unforgettable Star Lights Max bohemia. Sawa lived in Paris in hatching of the symbolist movement, the seed of the best avant-garde literature and the worst alcoholism. At that Paris possessed by the green fairy of absinthe, Sawa said that he met Victor Hugo, he gave her a fatherly kiss on the forehead and did not return to lavársela. He belied with such force that continued to do so when the story had been forgotten ... In Paris, Seville, a Marquise lived and met the elite of the damned poets, headed by Maj. Paul Verlaine drunk. It was one of the stars fin de siècle and, as demanded by the decadent, made his life a work of art whose final act, with a wife and daughter of France, represented in Spain. The true curse cursed years would return to Madrid, a provincial town in which Sawa, with an aristocratic French accent, custom writing papers survived and even, say, black as your friend Rubén Darío. Madrid also started one of the lesser-known masterpieces of English literature, lights in the shadows, chronicles his personal collapse and capitulation
bohemian world. Nordic recovered by the publisher with a foreword by Andrew Trapiello juicy, Illuminations in the shade is a journal that begins with the first day of the century and is becoming aware of the contrast between the mediocrity of the English capital ("The English people are preparing to celebrate in 1908 the anniversary of its independence. Independence from what?" ) and
Parisian hedonism. Also also presents profiles of the protagonists of modernity, from Baudelaire to the English Pío Baroja and Manuel Machado, and a small
devastating portrait which is defined as "the caricature, not always graceful, myself." As noted Trapiello, lights in the shadows "is the first major literary intimacy daily modern English literature." And surprisingly, this book published
one year after the death of Sawa, with an affectionate introduction of Rubén Darío, has so far been impossible to find in bookstores, true to its title. The recovery for the centenary of his death in 1909, along with the biography of Alejandro Correa Amelina
Sawa. Luces de Bohemia (Fundación José Manuel Lara) do justice to Sawa when it seemed doomed to be forever, Max Estrella. Curiously, the beautiful up the origin of two masterpieces: Lights of Bohemia and the epitaph dedicated Manuel Machado, one of the favorite poems and Ferrater Gabriel Jaime Gil de Viedma, "Never man born / for pleasure was the pain / more right.
